Posterous “HTTP 500 Error”
December 10th, 2012 | Posted by in PosterousUpdate!
Posterous says they will be shutting down on April 30th. http://blog.posterous.com/thanks-from-posterous
The Posterous API is down.
Currently you cannot post to your Posterous blog with Blogsy because the Posterous API is down.
If you try to post to your blog you will get a “HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error”. We emailed the people at Posterous and tweeted them last Friday and we are still waiting for a response. I will update this post when we have more information.
This is the error code Posterous is sending back when you try to publish your post.
And when we go to the Posterous API site for developers you can see that we get the same 500 error code.
You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 You can leave a response, or trackback.

Is this HTTP 500 error fixed yet? I am still not able to post from Blogsy to Posterous with my iPad as of 13 December 2012.
Hello Julia,
Thank you for the comment. I am sorry your are having this problem. We are also very frustrated about this. We have emailed, tweeted and Facebooked to Posterous without a response. I even emailed the president directly and have not received a response back. Twitter bought Posterous a while back and so we are reaching out to them in the hope that we can get some kind of response.
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do in Blogsy as long as the Posterous API is down. This needs to be fixed by the Posterous people.
Regards,
Lance
I don’t believe this. Just bought Blogsy in the hope of getting an iPad-friendly interface to my Posterous blog. Looks like Posterous / Twitter don’t care about this as here we are two weeks later and it still doesn’t work. Can’t blame Blogsy I guess but I’m not sure I’d have spent money if I’d known.
Hello Mark,
I am very sorry about this. I just went and changed the App details so users will know that the Posterous API is currently down so they won’t be able to use Blogsy with Posterous. We hadn’t done it before because we were hoping Posterous would get this fixed. You can request a refund from Apple for Blogsy and get your money back.
I saw this blog post about Posterous over the weekend. It looks like it may be going away. http://thenextweb.com/insider/2012/12/28/twitter-own-posterous-finally-lets-users-to-back-up-their-data-will-it-now-close-down-in-2013/
Again, I’ve very sorry about this.
Regards,
Lance

Still not working :( Getting the same error.
Hello Sarah,
Yes, the Posterous API is still down and there is nothing we can do about that. We have tried contacting Posterous and we are not able to get a response. It looks like they will not be fixing the API so this will force us to remove Posterous as one of the blogging platforms Blogsy supports.
And you may want to check out this article that I came across on the internet. The speculation is that Posterous will probably shut down this year. I would suggest you backup your blog as a precaution and start looking for another blogging platform. http://thenextweb.com/insider/2012/12/28/twitter-own-posterous-finally-lets-users-to-back-up-their-data-will-it-now-close-down-in-2013/
Thanks,
Lance
Hello Blogsy Team,
I feel tricked into the app purchase. I teally needed an ipad compatible app for posterous and I am constantly getting the error described above. You do advertise on the entry page of your main website that you do support posterous. And now I am reading that you, don’t support it for more than a month….
Iam really unhappy about that, I basically purchased an app for 5 eur that I cant use. Please make your mind up how I do get my money back. The issue is not that the api is not working, the issue is that you are advertising an function that is not working.
Kai
Hello Kai,
I am very sorry for the confusion. In all of the App Store descriptions we put that the API is currently down for Posterous.
We will be removing Posterous as a supported blogging platform in our next update. We still had hope that Posterous would get this issue fixed and thus we did not remove it from Blogsy yet. But we tried to let people know through the App Store description and our Platforms page that the Posterous API is currently down.
This is how you can get a refund http://appadvice.com/appnn/2009/10/how-to-get-an-iphone-app-refunded.
Again, I am sorry for the confusion.
Regards,
Lance
